Random stuff
Big news on the Hollywood front! MaryAnn aka, the good one, on Gilligan's Island, was pulled over for driving while intoxicated..... While they were searching her car, they found marijuana (pot, weed) in her car. She claimed that it must have been left there by a hitch hiker, but come on.... would MaryAnn...the good one...pick up a hitch hiker? No way! So that Joint (Dooby, Toke...MaryJane....) had to be hers.... So.... how many of you feel deceived now?
On another front...I have been watching the Gene Simmons show...you know...the guy from KISS? I have fallen in love with the guy! I am shocked, because before this he seemed so sleezy, but I have discovered that is just his persona! He is a loyal family man who adores his kids and his Mom, and is a shrewd business man. His mother calls him her Precious Son.... It is hard to put that image and the image of the crazy guy on stage with the makeup together... He took a polygraph, as requested by his longtime gf that proved that he had been faithful for the entire 24 years that they had been together. And he said that his reasoning for not getting married is that every day, he was making a choice to be with her...and he had for that whole period. The part that killed me was when they turned the tables, she said that she would have an affair with George Clooney, given the opportunity, and if Gene Simmons was not a famous singer, she would not be with him. When she said that, you could see Gene's face fall, but he quickly recovered, and made a funny comment and moved on. I actually felt sorry for him.
I was watching on TV a story about this dog who had been thrown off of an overpass into traffic on a freeway. Apparently 911 operators were overwhelmed with calls, and drivers slowed and managed to form a safe area to allow the dog passageway to the side, and someone else stopped to help him. He was a loved dog who had been lured from someone's yard with shredded beef and tossed off of the overpass by a stranger. Not a neighbor.... Why? Why?
I have also been watching Chimp Eden. If you have not seen it, you should. Amazing...those animals.
Anyway...I know....random. That's me...
peace...

ryc: in your defense, if you have let them know the change, the change should have been made. i make the changes if i know about them. ...and then, there are just plain 'human' mistakes that just happen.
people of the congregation have many, many opportunities/reminders to get me their correct information, so in some cases, it seriously isn't my fault if their information isn't right. i start putting out reminders in everything (the bulletins, newsletters) months in advance, so if they don't have a picture in the directory, etc.....i really can't be the one to blame (and i'm not going to hunt people down). anyway, don't feel bad....sounds like they haven't made the change for the next year.
ok, now i'm going to go back and read this post....
ok....i cannot make this stuff up!!!!!! i kid you not, i swear on my grandmother's grave---my husband and i were JUST having a conversation about gene simmons just this morning before i headed out the door. i told him how, try as i might to not like him, that i really do like the guy. and i was also saying how he is really a 'product' of an adoring, encouraging, doting mother. there was one whole episode dedicated to his relationship w/ him mom, how he adored her and took care of her and loved her. (also, has something to do w/ his 'inflated' ego...ha!) anyway, that part about what his "wife"girlfriend said, shocks me. i mean, how shallow. seriously, that had to hurt him even if he pooh-poohed it off. anyway, i so totally agree w/ you ....
oh, i just showed my husband that paragraph about gene simmons...and he nods his head, and said, "yeah, and we were just talking about george clooney this morning too" hmmm, yep, indeed we were.
oh my..... twin souls, i'm tellin' ya!
Sad about the dog.
But I'm glad people worked so hard to save him. For all the rotten, mean people in this world, there are also a lot of dog lovers.
Gene Simmons gave me the willies when I was a kid. Strange to hear that he's a nice sort of guy. I agree that maybe he blew off what his girlfriend said, but that had to hurt. Bad.
I'll have you know that i"ve been following American Idol again. Just for you. Aren't you proud? I like the two Davids best.
Hey Pam! Yeah, they translate the sermon part of the service. It's usually Tony's wife Marcia, but this past week, Brian did it. And for my song, Tony summarized it for them when I was finished. Oh...but the translation is fed through ear pieces, so that the Japanese people aren't disturbed, and the sermon isn't slowed down.
I love living by the ocean...but my skin is goin crazy. When I first got here, the skin around my eyes would get really red and tight and itchy...isn't really the right word for what it felt like. But I'd take an allergy pill and I'd be fine. This dryness, though, is an issue altogether separate!
Oh, I think that Taka is soon to become one of my favorite people. I haven't really spent a lot of time with Aki, but she's really nice too. I can't wait to get to know her better. But Taka and I have been getting along great...I think I provide a little sanity among the teachers, because the other girl I teach with is pretty boy crazy...and Taka's kind of frustrated with the whole situation. Ok...well, I need to finish getting ready, I have another class this morning! Later!
PS. I love that you give other synonyms for marijuana...it's so...teacher-ish. heh
