  • A Poem

It was a table for two

In a restaurant with a view

the paper top delighted my artistic soul

and my pen got busy creating a cartoon rat...or was it a mole?

"what is that strange appendage?" Ron asked... "sticking out there"

"An arm--you know--their front leg" I said huffily, to he who has not much hair...

irritated, I tossed him the pen and told him to draw...

this may have been my fatal flaw

for, in his own way he warned me of what was to come.....

and anyone who didn't feel a sense of forboding was...well...rather dumb

he drew this picture and said it was me:

Then I couldnt resist drawing this and saying it was he

So here's the story....  Ron told me that this piece of sushi looked too gross to take pictures of. It is tuna. It is very thick and is deep bloody red...so deep red that it looked like a tongue. So he said it would gross people out. Then I reminded him that we were eating it, and he said: "oh yeah". And that's my story....

So....now that you have been delighted by my pictures.....enjoy this week.....

  • Someone has a great sense of humor!

So I am working on Barney, my most adorable and vivaciously energetic JRT on not rushing and barking at the TV every time a dog is on the TV...  It is very difficult for him.  He does have to defend his territory from those dastardly intruders, after all....  Well, yesterday, he was napping on my lap, with his head on his front paws facing the TV.  A commercial came on with a barking dog....he laid still.  I sat still until it was over.  Shew....  "Good Dog", I said, and scratched his ears....  The next commercial had two dogs, frolicking on a lawn...  I could feel Barney tensing up under my hand, and the rumbling of a growl beginning...  "quiet" I reminded him "shhhh".....  It took every bit of his self control to handle it.  Finally that commercial was over and the next one came on.  For what, you ask?  101 Dalmations!  I couldn't believe it.  We were in all out soothing mode at that point.   He controlled himself, but it took my big guns to handle him.

Man oh man...  Talk about being tempted beyond what you are able to endure!  I couldn't help but laugh...

  • Rant...

If this hits close to home....good!

So I have noticed a disturbing trend at the grocery store lately.  I would say that 80%, no, make that 90% of all of the people at the grocery store who are shopping are on their cell phones.  I find this to be annoying.  Almost as annoying as when they are driving and on the phone...  They are not paying attention to what they are doing...they are slower about what they are doing and they stop when they are more fully engrossed in their conversation.  This makes it difficult for others to get around them... And, because they are on the phone, I feel like I am interrupting them when I say excuse me, to try to get past them. I usually enjoy my shopping experience.  I like to take my time and browse and peruse, and I find that the increase in this phenomena has made it more difficult for me to enjoy myself.  In addition, when they need to get past me, the people on the phone don't excuse themselves, because that would mean that they would have to interrupt their conversations, so instead, they barge into my cart, or push past, or through me, and I feel that my whole time is spent dodging and weaving...  AND....  I also used to enjoy talking to fellow shoppers....which is impossible if they are already talking to others....  and finally...the other victims....  their children....  People who are on the phone have children with them who they are not talking to...so the kids are either running wild, or just sitting there with a blank look on their faces....  so sad...  they are missing out on a great chance at interraction with their great kids!

What's funny is that when we were at the grocery store and I was sharing with Ron how everyone seemed to be on their cell phones, he picked up his phone and put it to his ear as if he was getting a call....and I bought it...  I can't believe I fell for it... Wow...

So maybe this means that I am getting old, but sometimes it is nice to just enjoy where I am....

    There's no solution...it is just annoying...so whatever....

    peace...

btw, yes, it was Old Bay, and in the other picture, there was a painting behind the guys of a naked woman.  That is a historical restaurant just a block from the White House where all of the government officials have gone for hundreds of years called Old Ebbit Grill, and it is filled with paintings of nude women for some reason...so we always go there on New Year's day for brunch, and take pics of the guys in front of the paintings...makes us laugh.  Cause we are juvenile.

  • I remember when shootings in schools would be such big news that all other news would be preempted and we would all be glued to the news to find out what was happening.  Now it gets a brief mention and they go on to talk about Britney's latest escapades or something like that.  And I used to seek out more info about the situation to try to figure out why it happened--why the person would do such a thing--how they got into the class with a gun, etc....  Now I hear it, and move on with my daily routine.

Is it possible that this has become so commonplace that it no longer seems shocking?  Can it be that I have become numb to this?  Wow.  I have been watching a show called "The First 48".  It is about real murders and shows how they get solved.  Ron wonders how I can watch it because he thinks it is grotesque.  Well...the reason I watch it is because I have become so numb...we hear about murders every day...and they cease to be people...you don't think about them as people.  This show makes them people with families and lives....  and it makes you remember that those murder victims were human beings.  So THAT is part of the reason that I watch the show.....

Something else that got to me this week.... it has been going on for quite a while, but I just was reminded of it again.  It's called "The Blasphemy Challenge".  Basically they are using Mark 3:29:  "Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." to challenge people to deny the the Holy Spirit and therefore "damn themselves to Hell".  They ask them to make a video and they have to say "I deny the Holy Spirit"  The part that makes me sick is watching all of the videos of people who took the challenge and have done it.  They equate Jesus with the Easter Bunny and Santa.  Many of them end with "see you in hell".  All on youtube for the world to see.  It makes me so very sad....  My heart is heavy for them...

    Ahhh...our world....sigh.....

    peace...
